Regional Engineering & Maintenance Manager EAME

The position

The Regional Engineering & Maintenance Manager EAME provides direction and overview to the local engineering projects and maintenance efforts for the sites in the EAME region. The Manager will provide engineering support, guidance and oversight to the sites in their pursuit of world-class manufacturing environments and lean manufacturing. He/she will work with the Operations team and local engineering/maintenance managers to propose, design, justify, and construct installations that are best practices.

He/she is responsible and accountable for ensuring that key engineering projects are delivered on-time, on-budget, and that they meet the expectation of the users. The position oversees the regional maintenance efforts to ensure that the organisation standards are developed, implemented, measured and upheld, and works with the local team to ensure adherence to the best cost model for the particular site, regarding in-house and contracted services.

The Manager will ensure that the Engineering and Maintenance teams focus on delivering quality, safety, hygiene and process improvements with a focus on cost value. He/she will support Seveso projects throughout the region and will be responsible for establishing and ensuring the annual Capital Allocation Request (CAR) budget. From a strategic viewpoint, the Manager provides overview and drives continuous improvement for future gains and support of the growth of the business.

The Manager will report to the Operations Director and will work closely with the Head of Global Engineering.

The Engineering and Maintenance department of the Dutch site will have a direct reporting line to the position. For the other European plants a dotted line relationship is envisaged. Total number of reports will be approximately 32.

The purpose as mentioned would lead to the following Key Responsibilities of the Regional Engineering & Maintenance Manager:

• Active leadership of engineering and maintenance activities and organization within the region;
• linkage of engineering/maintenance activities with support of operational activities, which include quality, safety, cost, gmp/hygiene and service improvements;
• implementing practices and projects that lead to world-class manufacturing environments;
• develop site master plans for key sites: these will fit into 5 year CAR plans;
• deliver quality projects that are on-time and on-budget;
• develop engineering / maintenance teams with the proper balance of needed resources and skills;
• align EAME engineering & maintenance to Best Engineering and Maintenance practices;
• contribute to the development of Global Standards and Procedures;
• develop succession plans for key engineering and maintenance positions.

The requirements are:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering;
• 7–10 years of supervisory and engineering / maintenance management experience in Food Processing Environment;
• hands-on experience in delivering successful small and large projects;
• strong process knowledge and process analysis competencies;
• good systems user;
• good financial understanding;
• service mentality;
• food Safety and Hygiene knowledge;
• comfortable with concept of accountability;
• proficiency in Dutch and English;
• experience in an international environment and in a matrix organisation;
• willing to travel.
